The University of Toronto's Centre for Urban and Community Studies maintains an extensive on-line library and also supports the Greater Toronto Urban Observatory. The "City of Disparities" research shows a growing income divide in Toronto. Available at www.urbancentre.utoronto.ca

The City of Toronto has recently released a consultation document for a 10-year housing strategy. Other research and policy material is also available at www.toronto.ca/affordablehousing

The United Way of Greater Toronto's detailed report on growing family poverty in Toronto is available at www.uwgt.org - along with other neighbourhood research.

TD Economics updated its economic outlook for the Greater Toronto Area in July of 2007 and it notes that persistent poverty and homelessness remain significant concerns, even with the booming metropolitan economy.

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, the federal government's housing agency, groups most of key data on housing in the Canadian Housing Observer site at http://www.cmhc-schl.gc.ca/en/corp/about/cahoob07/index.cfm. Information is available at the national and provincial levels, and in major metropolitan areas.

The National Aboriginal Housing Association (www.aboriginalhousing.org) and the Assembly of First Nations (www.afn.ca) include information about off-reserve and on-reserve Aboriginal housing issues.

Canadian Housing and Renewal Association - http://www.chra-achru.ca/. Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada - http://www.chfc.ca/. Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association - http://www.onpha.on.ca/. The Ontario Region of the Co-operative Housing Federation of Canada and the Ontario Non-Profit Housing Association produce the annual "Where's Home?" report which documents housing and homelessness issues in 21 Ontario communities. It is available on their web sites.

The Advocacy Centre for Tenants Ontario (www.acto.ca) and the Federation of Metro Tenants' Associations (www.torontotenants.org) both provide research and policy materials on Ontario and Toronto housing issues.

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities has produced a national quality of life report that focuses on housing and homelessness and also a proposal for a new national housing strategy. The information is available at www.fcm.ca
